What is National Night Out?
It's America's Night Out Against Crime!
On August 5, 2008 Glen Ridge participated in the "25th annual National Night Out" (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
- Encourage youth to have a positive association with Police
In Glen Ridge:
- The police and ambulance squads visited nine block parties and distributed NNO materials, provided by MAC
- If you are interested in being part of the 2009 National Night out in Glen Ridge, contact Detective Alvarez for more information at 973-748-4116 or juvenile@glenridgenj.org
